Important information about Alphonso mango:

  • Extremely temperamental
  • Very sensitive to the changes to the weather.
  • Very delicate fruit to handle
  • It has genetic issue related to it, namely Spongy tissue. Spongy tissue is the part of the fruits flesh which doesn’t get ripen up. Although a lot of research has been done in identifying spongy tissue early, yet there is no definite solution of identifying it. We do as much as testing as possible before importing the fruit but it is not always possible to stop this from happening. Thus Alphonso is sold “AS IS”.
  • Even with all these issues and risk, it is one the most selling varieties every year.

*The size and count specified is the most likely number based on our experience. Please note that the size of the fruit can vary widely during a season. Count depends upon how many fruits can be safely packed in the box without causing spoilage.

**The weight range specified is a guideline and gives the range when the fruit is being packed. There can be a large variation in the weight of the fruit depending upon many factors such as the rate of ripening, the nature of the fruit etc. Please note that mango can lose weight daily at the rate of 2 to 5 percent.
